Things that have been changed, tweaked, added, or fouled for this version: (note, THIS version, being the FINAL version, so hopefully anything and everything that can and should be tweaked or addressed has been.) |
- Fixed all sounds so they will work with COD V1.2, added a few sounds, removed some others. (untested, will sounds work with 1.1??) |
- Total makeover of the Axis Spawn apartment, from the ground up. Optimizied my newb brush usage and tried to create the sensation of being trapped in a burning building. |
- Fixed some hitches in terrain and rough brush placement. Walking from point A to B shouldn't be so arduous now, and hopefully brush/patch alignment is not so noticeable at the seams. |
- Total remake of the sewers. Kept the same layout, but optimizied my newb brush usage, sealed close to 1 million leaks (sic) , addressed the issue of unlevel water levels, and added some obstacles to make the firefights in the slime more than a sniper-peeking-around-the-corner taking pot-shots fest. |
- Added backyard area to Allies Spawn house. |
- Portals. Reduced tris count and higher fps. Woohoo!! First release highest tris count was just over 104k (yikes!), i've managed to whittle that down so it peaks at 84k, and in some areas it's even under 5k. |
- Added proper support for SD gametype - you can new defuse the bomb without doing a funny little dance trying to find the trigger. |
- Added support for RE & HQ. RE objective spawns in a random location each time (up to 5 different locations) to keep things from getting static. HQ radio has 10 different spawn locations. |
Foul happenings and fun times: |
- FOUL - patch meshes, they hate me and i hate them. I had 1 mesh that, no matter what i did, no matter how hard i hit it and how softly i carressed it, it would not stay solid. Stupid holes. This one mesh had 5 different holes in it, at different times. Of course, i just deleted the focker after all that trouble. |
- FUN - recreating the sewers and successfully adding portals on my first attempt. Woot! |
- FOUL - learning the hard way to NEVER use CSG subtract. Stupid newb that i was. |
- FUN - the "E" key, love those blue dots. X O X O. |
- FOUL - Did i mention meshes? OMG - stretched & distorted textures, max_patch_planes, you name it - i was a victim. |
- FUN - Hurt triggers. Nuff said. |
- FOUL - finishing a map i had a blast making, all good things must come to an end. |

Pestilence:

Specifically, the disease known as the plague; hence, any contagious or infectious epidemic disease that is virulent and devastating. "The pestilence That walketh in darkness." --Ps. 91:6 2. Fig.: That which is pestilent, noxious, or pernicious to the moral character of great numbers. "I'll pour this pestilence into his ear." --Shak. The plague...yersinia pestis...i seem to have a fascination with it. Hence the name/basis of my map. War is a plague. My inspiration/concept came from The Plague Tales by Ann Benson, and Warcraft III - namely the missions where Luther is battling the Undead. Mixing it with war just came naturally. The picture in the church is of Anton Salazar Lavey. The mural in the church depicts a religious ruler sentencing the disobedient to punishment. The engine for the truck in the 3 story garage is a 1980 Pontiac Firebird TransAm, because it sounds cool. The church organ is a clip taken from Velvet Acid Christs Church of Acid album. I have used numerous other sources for the various sound effects present in the map, including MOH, kazaa, movies, and personal recordings. I hope to have created a memorable atmosphere. |
This is the first map i created. I hope it's not too "noobish" for anybodies tastes. I spent just as much time learning to use radiant
as i did constructing. I welcome any and all feedback, good, bad, ugly - nothing is unnecessary.
